Nursery Information

All parents need to check their child’s drawer every morning. Your password for the high school barrier is your child’s name. Your child’s jumper/cardigan needs to be labelled with their name. If your child brings sandwiches to nursery please make sure grapes and tomatoes are cut in half.

Each day your child attends nursery they will need:

  • A water bottle

  • Suitable coat.

  • Hat & gloves

  • Wellington boots

All clearly labelled with your child’s name.

Activities to do at home

Your child will be sent home with a reading book. We ask that you read with your child at least 3 times a week as this helps with their concentration and letter & sound recognition.

We have an open-door policy in preference to formal parent’s evenings. If you want to see your child’s work or discuss their progress please see your key worker or nursery manager to make arrangements.

Encourage your child to take their own coat on and off. Also teach your child how to dress and undress independently.

We now have our own nursery cook, who cooks fresh meals on our nursery premises. Our menu has changed (please ask for a copy) and so has the payment system. All nursery meals need to be paid using ParentPay in advance. If you pay for nursery lunches using a pay point system you will require a new barcode so please ask Mrs Holdcroft.

Thank you for your continued support. If you have any queries or concerns, please see a member of staff.

Curriculum Overview

Every child deserves the best possible start in life and the support that enables them to fulfil their potential. Children develop quickly in the early years and a child’s experiences between birth and age five have a major impact on their future life chances. A secure, safe and happy childhood is important in its own right. Good parenting and high quality early learning together provide the foundation children need to make the most of their abilities and talents as they grow up.

The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) sets the standards that all early years’ providers must meet to ensure that children learn and develop well and are kept healthy and safe. It promotes teaching and learning to ensure children’s ‘school readiness’ and gives children the broad range of knowledge and skills that provide the right foundation for good future progress through school and life.

The E.Y.F.S. focuses on seven areas of learning, these are;

  1. Personal, Social & Emotional Development.

  2. Communication & Language.

  3. Physical Development

  4. Literacy Development

  5. Expressive, Arts & Design

  6. Mathematics

  7. Understanding the World.
